Its fine not getting the ZZ2, i don't have cages that size :P
But atleast get a bigger one, not just the metro&attachment

Because the metro really is TINY
Horace my mum's winter white, makes it look tiny, i can't even imagine a syrian living in it..

Why not get a 70x40 cage, if others are too big?

Like a ZZ1
i know they are not ideal, but it would be so much better than the metro..

Gizmodo - I think the current plan is to get the samla bin from ikea which is definetly better
I was just trying to convince him to return to his old plan if he could since it had seemed so definite at one point. Definetly better to get the samla bin if nothing else is feasible though. Definetly, definetly better lol

Ah... I'm ok with them but commercial ones do look a lot better usually. I like Scamp's bin but they're not my favourite choice when other cages are avaliable.
I loved hers from the minute it was done though, and it looked horrible before we re-meshed it to be honest. I think it was just me being so glad it was done that I never really noticed how it looked lol

I figure they can be great, but we tend to keep them to times when a commercial cage can't be purchased for the same use. Like Scamp needed the space for her big wheel really urgently and we couldn't buy a big cage locally, so sorting a bin was much faster and better for Scamp.

I just think that when someone planned to get a commercial cage, has saved the money e.t.c, its worth considering commerical cages as well as the bin. Did do quite badly at making that clear a few times though.

Ah well, Jacks choice. Either way Bubbles getting an upgrade would be good

Other cage ideas - What about the ferplast mary? Its 80cm by 50cm, can easily fit Bubbles current wheel, house and some toys, has a huge door, looks good as far as I can tell, and is quite cheap for a big cage.
Its the cheapest big cage I can think of, but there're loads of other good options too. The bin is definetly better than nothing if none of the bigger cages will "look" ok though.

Can I remind everyone to remain polite and constructive.

My personal views here.

I got given an argos starter cage..i found it makes a brilliant cage for taking to shows (indy entered many times in it) and also was perfect for takign my two big 600g ratties to the vets in so perhaps hold onto it as a travel cage or if you plan to enter pet section at shows

As you can see..3 small cages, perfect for pet class (the argos one is bottom)

I made a bin cage and quite enjoyed the personal achivement of it..it is now a ratty carrier!

Regards to using extensions, take note of an extension i made-

Neither large cages but had fun doing it and my hammy seemed happy enough.

I hammysat a syrian this summer who was in a metro, while it was tiny he was out plenty and his owner had made good use of the space available.

x

urch it was in my early hammy owning days, yes it had gizmo who i still wish i knew what happened to him. The cage looked good (i hadnt seen many others to compare) but was a **** to clean..gizmo was tiiiiiiny so for him was fine.

I managed to sell it for £18 i think! comparrison of getting 2 cambridge for under a fiver- proving price is not always a representation of quality etc

The base of that will be much smaller than if you got the SAMLA that would make a good cage.
It'll still be too small for Bubbles unless you get the SAMLA bin that Charlie linked you to a few pages back.

This really would be much better for Bubbles, so could you please consider getting this instead? Yes you'd need to get the lid separately but it'd really be a lot, lot better for Bubbles.
The one you want slopes in a lot and will be much less than 79 by 50cm at the base, meaning it won't really be much of an improvement for Bubbles.
