How far before...two syrians stand each other?
Heya, I know that Syrians needs to be housed individually. I was just wondering, if you have two Syrians in two separate cages, how far must the cages be from each other? If they're within smelling range, does that drive them nuts?

err, well mine are a few cm apart but they are in plastic cages so cant really see or smell each other...
be careful with barred ones as they can reach out and still harm each other :P i'd go for at least 50cm personally
doesnt matter if they're stacked ontop of each other though

Mine are right next to each other in plastic bins as well. No problems.

Re: How far before...two syrians stand each other?
mine are about 10 cm apart in wire cages - girl syrians. my two boys are on other side of the launch stacked on top of each other. I used to have them near each other (Girls and boys) and they were getting crazy - boys wanted to get to the girls and the other way around every few nights, too. Its much calmer since I moved the boys away thou

Plastic cages I should think you won't have any problems. But I'd personally keep female and males in wire cages well away from each other. Its very common for the male to get quite fustrated

Oh my! That's something to bear in mind. I have my male Syrian in a wire cage and was about to adopt a female - I'd be like a terrible chaperone who refused to let him romance each other! Perhaps, I should adopt another male instead...

Re: How far before...two syrians stand each other?
I had Peanut next to female Poppet for quite a while, there was a big gap between cages of course and they were fine, I find Peanut is more aware of my male than he was with my female..

My male is on top of one of the females cages, they dont seem to affect each other at all but the other female seemed to upset them both so shes now upstairs, they are all in barred cages and they all seem happy now.
