She's also getting a bit big to be living in the tubes, she can only turn around in the wider sections now.
Or if the weather got hotter! That'd be horrible place to sleep in summer!
I think you should maybe try (dont have to) taking away the tubes and give her a space to make an open nest, Milos lazy - so wherever i put the tissue, its very rare that he actually moves it

Agreed, it does sound like it's becoming necessary. I'm sure some extra playtime to make up for it during the transition will help things along.

As for houses; does anyone in your house drink Tetley's tea regularly? Their boxes are quite good, just cut a hole or two in the side for entrances, and there's the flip up lid if you need to check on her. Pudding had one for a while and was very happy with it, but we don't drink enough of it to replace them often enough.

All my hamster have lots of houses to choose from to sleep in but they all seen to prefer to sleep in cat food boxes!
I take an empty cat food box, cut in down a little and then cut a door and windows in it and mine love them. Plus I put a little ladder up to the top so they can sit on top of them too.
My mum has them for her syrian and dwarf too and they wont sleep in anything but them.

I've had to remove Snickers' penthouse a few times as it gets stuffy, she looks for it for like 30 mins and then totally forgets. I noticed that if she is in her playpen while I remove the penthouse she doesn't even realise it's gone! It's never caused her any major stress, she's just a little confused.

Ooo I have a tea bag box I think (my OH drinks tea but we put the teabags in a jar thing) - will give that a go, if I can fit it in her cage anywhere! Should I put bedding in there or not?

Yeh, I would. Lots (to fill it up, because she obv likes feeling closed in). Hopefully when you put that in and take off the tubes she'll head for the nice dark cosy area

Turns out the last lot of tea we got was in a bag type thing... Damn! We dont have any other smallish boxes either. Might have to buy some tissues or something.
