Maybe so - but if you dare miss a family do then they have a habit of remembering the fact forever and throwing it back at you in arguements for years to come!!

You're not sad and pathetic at all! I was obsessed by getting a rosette yesterday. I wasn't too start with and then Liz pointed out the blue sticker on one of my ham's pens and said that meant 2nd place. So I got all excited until I found out that you only get rosettes for 1st place, and then I had a strop! But the gods smiled and we came home with two trophies and 3 rosettes (plus another 2 in pets)...it was a day beyond my wildest dreams!!

I can totally understand what you're saying - a rosette is VERY important to new comers and that's why I think 1st right through to 6th should get a rosette even if it's just a small one, it's enormously encouraging.

When I first started showing guinea pigs it really was (sometimes) the only thing that kept me going back

I now have a shed full and they're jolly annoying to dust all the time but I won't part with some of them, they're all unique and special and I'm sure in years to come Justine will still look at the ones she got at Andover and feel special.

Quite rightly so, I don't think we're sad, just unique

yey! i'm glad i'm not the only one!

The Northern club used to give rosettes for first place - very basic and small, but a rosette all the same - but they haven't given any out the last few shows i've been to. Only for BIS/BOS, novice and junior. (i aren't novice any more btw)

I do appreciate that but rosettes cost over a pound each to buy these days and clubs just couldn't afford to keep giving them away unless the entry fees were significantly increased.
In theory the Southern should not be giving out rosettes as it was voted at two AGMs to stop ordering them due to the cost and only give out a returnable trophy for main classes and a rosette or small trophy for novice and junior to keep.

To be honest, i'll give you a quid for my own rosette

you could do something like tht actually. if you want your rosette, you pay a quid. Trophies suck cos you can't keep them

I know I am hamster obsessed but surely a family party is more important than a hamster show??

its not so much that its the fact that my dad said id go without actually asking me thats what got on my nerves a breach of a lot of agreements we have.

id remeber as im relient on lifts i loose a show if it clashes with a football match which is a 1 in 2 chance for every show as my dads a season ticket holder and goes to every home game

thougth id love it if i could get lifts with someone as i could go to even more shows thougth im starting driving soon

i find theese formal things boring and a waste of my time

surely if its your aunt golden wedding you should be there? i wouldn't miss any of my relatives special events for a hamster show even if it was someone i didn't get on with, i live 4 hours away from them all so its nice to catch up once in a while!( i definitely mean once in a while!).

back to bath: does anyone know if there are going to be 2 Chinese classes again? its so much better as it is a tad un-fair considering the difference in the two colours.

thanks

Alex

Yes Alex, there will be 2 chinese classes at all Southern and Midland shows for the forseeable future.
