Brockholes Hamster Show!

Today was Brockholes Hamster Show, our local show, and the one we organise. We were down at 7:30 this morning putting up signs and boiling eggs!

Everything went really well, and we were pleased with the turnout. We were also pleased to see quite a few forum members there especially Jane and her newbie (I'm sure you'll hear more from her)!

We did very well and were very pleased because...

BINGLEY GOT BEST IN SHOW DWARF!!!



I'm really proud of my tiddling men, they have got 2 best in shows each now! Both won their classes, and both had the same amount of points, but the judge gave Bingo the plus. Pringle also won non-standard, and the judge said that if he was standard he would have got Best in Show!
Poly is still looking very pale and small, and has a bald back, so didn't score very highly but still managed to get 4th in his class.

Best Opposite Sex Dwarf went to Midnight Stud, BIS Syrian to Scorpio Syrians (Sheryl) and BOS Syrian also to Scorpio Syrian.
Best in Show Junior went to Dan's Hams, and Best Opposite Sex Junior went to our very own Will at his first show with the Who Hams!

Congrats to all who won prizes, you all did really well and it was nice seeing you!

Hi I had a great time today!

I judged pets along with HC member Gus and my dark golden Mojito did really well scoring 77 which meant that I got a first place in Young Stock and came 2nd in Novice! She's only 10 weeks old so I've got really high hopes for her

Just got in - was so busy thinking about genetics I missed my turn off and ended up in Leeds :-/ Nevermind was a 30min detour but am back safe.

The syrians were lovely today, just got bit by one! The golden class and the long haired cream class were fabulous and really stood out.

I had a lovely day chatting to people as I havent been to a show for ages.

And Souffle - you make a lovely cup of tea

such an embarrassment for us, turning up at 1pm after having got so lost. We gave up and decided to go home, then saw a turning and thought "i wonder...." so we thought we'll just try it and there we were in Brockholes!

Firstly, stupid google sent us all across the moors instead of the M62, which i now know was the sensible way to go! Anyway, we missed the turning and went all the way across sadleworth moors into Barnsley! My knowledge of Yorkshire told me that Barnsley was right next to Brockholes, so i thought i was going the right way! didn't realise we'd make a mistake til we got to the M1

Then we came back and went up the turning we missed.... except it was the wrong one....

we eventually found the right turning and it was the scariest road i've ever been on, winding round up a massive hill on a teeny road in the rain, knowing that if i put a toe wrong i might fall down a canyon

Then we got to some village with no name, then thurlstone and some Thong places and Holmfirth... we drove up and down Holmfirth trying to find the turning for Brockholes. Then i gave up and headed to Huddersfield... that's when we accidently found Brockholes!

I thought no-one will ever believe we drove round for 4.5 hours (plus 30 mins stationary in a queue in manchester!) on the moors, so i took some photos to proove it!

I had a great time too - but I hate all photos of me - even my back!!

It was a lovely friendly show, and it was lovely to pass Jane one of my little boys!

The other boys also got lovely homes at the show, in fact I've already had an email of the young girl who bought the last long hair to say he was asleep and she had bought Harry Hamster food, dog biscuits and treats! His name is Payton

Ive told her about HC, so hopefully she may join us soon!

Thanks to Souffle and PH for all their hard work, and to LMDH for not knocking any points off for my show cages (was a close thing whether the paint would dry though!)

And to Julie, a big thank you for joining me in show secretarying for the first time - and allowing me someone to panic with!

Worse thing of the day? - I still didnt get around to looking at the judging book
