I feel like an awful person
Well, more news on Georgia.
Her cold is pretty much gone, buttttt...
I went to check on her after I got back from gymnastics, and her bum was a teeeeny bit wet. Not like major Wet Tail wet, but I'm still super worried. She is walking around like normal, building her nest, drinking, eating, running on her wheel...
Since she does have long hair, perhaps it's just pee?
I just had a feeling this was going to happen. It's a reason I tried to not get to close to her. My friend has gotten 2 different hamsters from this store with Wet Tail, but that was 4 years ago so I assumed the problem would be gone.
Is there any way it isn't wet tail?
I scouted the cage and spotted no diarreah anywhere...

Re: I feel like an awful person
It could be just that she has sat in pee or it could be that she is a little sticky through her 4 day cycle. Wet tail usually smells pretty bad. Does she smell?
Just feed her dry food for now and keep her as stress free as possible by not overhandling or exposing her to any disturbance till she settles.
Give her a quarter teaspoon of live yogurt to keep her bowel bacteria healthy.
Hope she is OK

Re: I feel like an awful person
Well it isn't cleared up yet, and It's definatly diarreah. She doesn't smell that bad, just a lil stinky. She's got a vet appointment tomorrow morning. If It gets any worse, I don't think I can save her. If it doesn't go away, she's gunna have to be PTS in a few months. *upset*
I can't believe I got myself to use that store. I told myself to never go there again! *sigh* Poor Georgia.

Re: I feel like an awful person
I gave Georgia some yogurt.
I sat and watched her for a bit, she ran around her cage kinda randomely, but won't get on her wheel. I haven't seen her eat anything since I got her. Except like 2 sunflower seeds. She's still drinking fine, but all her bedding I've had to throw out because its covered in diarreah
She'll see the vet tomorrow ]: Perhaps we'll get some medicine, but I know it won't keep her with me forever.

Re: I feel like an awful person
It sounds very advanced and it will be very, very hard to pull her through this Ava.
I'm afraid if the vet says she is very ill I would be inclined to let her go as they suffer alot with this illness.
It is essential you protect Dewey from contact with the infection.
If I were you I would report the pet shop to the vet and animal authorities. It is more than likely that every baby hamster in that tank is infected and all will suffer the same fate.
She will require intensive nursing and treatment to have any chance and even then they often suffer from after effects and a damaged digestive system and fail to thrive.
Bless her and I hope they can do something but unfortunatly the recovery rate is very low so be prepared.

Re: I feel like an awful person
*sigh*
Should I just get her put to sleep?
I'm so upset right now it's hard to type.
She's still just a baby... it's hard to think about putting her down.
