Default chewing idea...

im thinking of removing the upper level of pickles' cage. She's in a mini duna, so this will leave her with a cage that is all on one level, but she will not be able to access the bars at the top to chew. She'll still have quite a lot of floorspace and she has toys in there, im just thinking this will prevent chewing. Do you think this is a good idea?

you could just block the bars that are above the shelf, save her from losing her shelf. Either weave some cardboard through the bars or attach a wooden bendy bridge thing, flattened out, to the inside of the bars directly over the shelf, using cable ties.

ive tried the cardboard, covering bars, putting books on top. She just forces her nose through the gaps and this is whats making her face so sore. Ive taken the top level out and spent two hours withmy housemates making toys shown on the DIY Section. She's got paperchains, a teatowel hammock, toilet roll pinatas full of treats, its operation save Pickles' nose!!!!!

Why don't you try a bin cage perhaps. We made a extra level for Chekov my russian by putting a smaller box inside the bigger box with some doors on it. Didn't cost more than £15 for the bin and box (its very big was meant for 4 robos) and the extra level and then you wouldn't have to worry about the bar chewing?
