Mickey has been having some skin problems for a month or two. He went to the vets, was treated for mites and given some stuff for other skin issues. I thought he looked better, his hair had gotten thicker again and around his eyes didn't look so irritated. However tonight I thought his hair looked a little thin on his back so I took a closer look. It looks as though he has lost some hair in a line straight down his back and his skin is red and very flakey. The hair on his stomach is thin and under his arms feels like he might have small scabs. Also I swear when he was running in his ball it looked as though his mouth is hanging open a bit. I may be crazy but I am really scared it is cushings. I'm not sure if it progresses at the same rate in every hamster?
I will get him to the vet next week but is there anything I should be doing for him. I tried fish oil on his skin but he still has huge flakes of skin just pealing off, I'm not sure how many times it would take of using it until it starts to work. I saw in the sticky for cushings the poster used sudocrem, is this just a diaper rash cream, I don't think we have that exact kind around here I'm wondering if any other kind would work? I can't stand for him to be uncomfortable, he is an awesome little hammy man. Oh and he's only 8 or 9 months old, could he even have this disease at his age.
Hopefully I ma just worrying for nothing but I just look at him and know somethings not right
