A little worried :(
Hey every1 ive not been on in ages x have been i the middle o moving hoose etc x well my wee syrian girl seems to be gettin on well so i think x she is still eating n drinkin though looks frail. Her eyes both are matted with gunge and one seems to be alot more poppy out lookis like its falling out and i can see the white a little. I have bathed it every day for about a week now but no change. Also she isnt stashing her food no more just pouching it and running about her cage like a baby again . Her bones from her head to neck are quite visible aswell . I dont know what to think ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif) why are her eyes so bad (shes always had a wee gungy eye but not both and not like this .her coat has lost its shine though she is still hyperactive
At times . Should i preper myself for the worst to happen soon

Re: A little worried :(
Is she old? Sounds like age might be getting to her.

Re: A little worried :(
I don't mean to be an alarmist, but I'd take her to the vet immediately

Re: A little worried :(
It does sound as if a vet check up would be a good idea, there are a few issues there you have mentioned, and if your ham is a lot older now, she may be reaching her time, but it is important to keep her as comfortable as possible, and the vet will know if there is anything to be done. It is also possible that there may be something completely treatable going on there, again only the vet will be able to help with this. it sounds like you've done a great job trying to help her as much as you can so far, but really hammy needs more expert help now.
Please keep us updated as to how she is doing

Re: A little worried :(
I agree 100% Angelhamster. If its of any help my two dwarves died of old age. They became alarmingly thin, you could see their bones, their eyes look old and tired, they wouldn't eat food they previously loved. They were as lively as ever but you could tell they were worn out. Maybe there's some similar symptoms. Either way I would take her to a vet.

I would definitely think about taking her to a Vet as soon as possible.

Also i phoned my vet today an she told me that its all to do with old age and her eyes are probs getting worse coz shes getting old. She said just be prepared as it does sound like old age (shes about 18months) and to jyst prepare myself.

Re: A little worried :(
If you've spoken to the vet then it is preparing for the worst sadly ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
One of ours is starting to look quite old and all we can do for our elderly hams is watch how they cope, make sure they're still happy and do what we can to make sure they enjoy the time we do have left with them.
Best of luck to you, and I'll be hoping for both of our elderly hams to last a good bit longer yet
