Default Don't tell me Mimi has diabetes?!

Unfortunately these few months havent been too great for the hamsters, i'm starting to think Mimi might have diabetes.. She's drinking a lot more than usual, and much more than the other hamsters. I thought Pop drank a lot until i noticed Mimi's intake! She/her cage doesnt really smell any different, although its quite big with deep bedding and i keep it clean i guess. Although her appetite's just as big as usual, she seems smaller, might just be because she's no chicklet anymore though :/ She's also not using her wheel? If she does, then its really rarely, none of us have seen her on it for a while which is a shame :[ Her 2nd birthday's in May. She spends a lot of time sitting in her hammock ^_^
Errm, her sleeping hours seem the same, maybe a little longer..
I'm not sure whether its something catching on, or whether its just that they're all in a small warm room. It's freeeezing so the radiator's on and she's closest to it, but even so, its not really that warm in there so i don't know how that affects her drinking that much :L x

I don't have a Syrian but all of the above apart from drinking more is what my Mandy is like & she is just under 2 years old. So im wondering if its just the signs of old age creeping in xxx

Diabetes is quite rare in Syrians although not unheard of. Tbh, it just sounds like old age, all of my animals have drank/peed more when getting older.

i hope so, although you do tend to notice when something's not quite right.. i know old age is pretty sudden but mmhm. i think il just keep an eye on her tbh, and move her away from the radiator ^^

I wouldn't think it was diabetes in a syrian.
Though due to her old age it could be a sign of kidney problems x
