Unhappy Pippy Has Diabetes

Well Pippy took 3 tests today and each time she came out possitive for diabetes. As if my poor darling needs anything else wrong with her
In the last 2 weeks her weight has shot up to the point where she is now obese despite still being fed the same foods and the same amount. She sleeps for 22 hours in the day only waking to eat, drink and spend 5 minutes throwing herself at the side of the cage nearest me shreaking savagely (but that bit is just down to her personality disorder). When I lifted the lid of her cage this morning to get her out I was hit by the most foul smelling odour which tuned out to be just a bit of wee, so I decided there and then to go and get her tested.

She is now on a zero fat 80% vegetable diet with lots of pellets for the nutrition. Apparently it is still fine to feed her plain boiled egg whites but not the yolks so I will keep doing so for her protien. Does anyone know of a certain brand of food that would be good for her? Id love to hear from some other owners of diabetic hamsters please to know what you do differently for them food wise. Any advice from anyone would be great though.

Im at the stage where Pippy now has so many problems that I dont see her living out her full 2 years of life that she could still have had left. The poor thing is only 7 months old and has more problems than my other 3 hamsters put together (all of whom are nearly a year old). I just dont know what to do with her anymore, each weak she seems to get another new problem. Im so proud of how strong she is though, she hasnt let any of it stop her from having fun and causing havock. Im glad she is such a stubborn little thing sometimes.
