One eye bigger than the other?
Just got Milo ourfor a run around, and one of his eye appears to be 'flatter' than the other, like, his other eye looks bulgy-er but it looks the normal size, the other one looks flatter he looks fine every other way Just sleeping more, but he'll be 2 in august/september so i think its old age tbh, but the eye?

Re: One eye bigger than the other?
I've heard of hamsters getting tumours behind the eye making it bulge. But he sounds very healthy otherwise so thats a doubtful cause.
Have you made sure nothing is stuck in or irritating the eye?

Re: One eye bigger than the other?
Has his eye previously been fine? My robo Whizzbit has one eye bigger than the other, but that's only because his face is paralyzed on one side so the eye dosen't open properly.
Does the area around the eye look ok? Any redness or swelling? Are his nai8ls nice and short so he can't have clipped himself?

Re: One eye bigger than the other?
could he have damaged it? sometimes if hamsters damage their eyes that can get a build up of fluid behind it making it bulge.

Re: One eye bigger than the other?
Ok...uhm...describe the eye which is more flatter, is it dry or wet? If it looks ok, then the other eye could have to high intraocular pressure, but without a picture thats hard to tell.

Re: One eye bigger than the other?
Do check whether he has hurt the eye, maybe when grooming / bar climbing then falling, or just scratched it or something?
I know for a couple of times my little one had dried blood around the eye so I was freaking out. But she was fine and the next day the eye looked fine with no problems.

Re: One eye bigger than the other?
One of Ruby's eyes suddenly changed when she was about 9 weeks old, it went a much darker red. She was at the vets the other day for a wee infection and I asked him to check it, he had a good look and shone a light over it etc, he said there was a tiny ulcer, I couldn;t see it myself but he said it was nothing to worry about. He said the change of colour was nothing to do with the ulcer and that it can happen. He said she could have some artificial tears if it begins to bother her. He said she had probably poked her eye with something sharp in the cage, I couldn't think of what it was as there is nothing sharp in there, maybe she caught a claw on her eye while washing, I don't know but it doesn't bother her thats the main thing. The darker eye is a bit bigger and flatter than the other one, weird!

Re: One eye bigger than the other?
Could it be that he simply slept on his eye a bit? If he did it more than once, the pressure could cause the temporary flattening.
