don't worry about it, I only gave her a raisin soaked in it! it wasn't much. after some research i found out that constipation is sometimes the first sign of wet tail. I was wandering if the bleeding could have something to do with her having a real dried up plug of poo and her squeezing too hard and had a little tear in her bits? she done another two wees since and no visible blood in it. so I'm hopefull on that part. But, saying that, her poos are now wet and very light brown although pelet shaped. but the tissue it was lying on had a wet brownish stain (sorry about the details) all around it so it is quite wet.

She is running on her WW as I am typing and she had some of her food (I added some oats to it just to help her if I made her bowels too soft myself) and she is drinking in regular intervals like she always does.

I gave her more tissue to snuggle up in and I'm taking her in the vets in the morning to get her checked.

I feel a bit less panicked now thou.

UPDATE: So I took Honey to the Vets today, and he said she has no lumps or bumps, no solid poo in her bowel and she looks healthy to him (although her bum seems irritated to him as well) His only concern is the blood in her urin. He said that that it could be an urinary infection and to be on the safe side as her stools are now opposite to very dry, he prescribed Baytrill, 1ml/100ml of water for 10 days. So I'm doing this them. also he said to bath her bum in warm salty water 2xday as she has got some scratches on it.

the only concern with this is: I'm not sure he knows hamsters much! I've told him I've got 4 syrians and he calmly replied that I should put honey into spare cage for the next 10 days as the medicated water might be harmful to the others (he thought I house them all in the same cage!!!!) He looked surprised when I told him they are solitary animals and can't be housed together!!!

Crikey!! I would snot see that vet again tbh, finding a good vet for rodents is nightmare I know!

Blood in her wee would indicate unrinary infection, but its the other end that is worrying too.

But dont put the baytrill in the water, syringe it directly into the mouth or they do not get the full dose. They would have to drink the full bottle in one day to get the right dose.

Hope is right. Give her one drop (0.1ml) once per day straight into her mouth. They hate the taste of baytril and she may not drink at all with the meds in it and that would be bad for her.
The salty water might sting her bottom It sounds like urine burn from a urine infection so it should be helped by the meds.
When she is on Baytril try and give her some ProC probiotic in porridge or sprinkled on food to keep her bowel flora healthy. Ensure she keeps drinking.
Hope she is better soon.

yes, I asked him about this and he said that in the water only for her to be able to be medicated through out the day - although I decided to make it like this: I'm going to make out only 50ml of water for her every day, as she never drinks more than 20-25ml a day. the other 0.5ml of Baytrill I'll administer into her mouth or on few flakes of oats. Do you think this is ok?

ok then, I'll do it all by mouth then. I can't risk her not drinking at all. he gave her an injection too to kick start the treatment of the infection.
Where can I get the ProC, Souffle? and what is it?

BTW, on Slovak hamster forum people say to feed them small saucer of week black tea when on antibiotics, which I find strange! Also they say dark chocolate and fennel tea instead of water for a soft runny poop. What do you think of this? They swear by it but I would personaly not give any of this to my hamsters.

I have never heard of this reasion for giving it in the water, from what I have hear it is always best to adminiter stright into the mouth, they will not eat anything with it on as it is disgusting! (Souffle has tasted it so I have it on good authority!) But you can give a treat afterwards to take the taste away. You may need to swaddle her in a towel to get her to take the meds, but its for her own good. I think that Vectis' website has a section on administering meds, but it wont load for me right now, but here is the link, take a look, Vectis Hamstery

Sorry we posted at the same time!

I wouldnt give any of that to a hamster either. Pro C is a powder probiotic that helps replace the good bacteria in the tummy, as the baytrill just kills them all off to stop the infection so they need replacing. It is availible in pet shops here, but not sure about where you are. Thjis is what it is here, so you know the type of thing to look for - http://www.petsathome.com/shop/proc-...%20-_-Products Another good thing to give is a small amount of live natural yoghurt.

Thanks for the link about the admin of medicine, I'm sure to do that this evening when I put my Human Babies (also on antibiotics :/) to bed. I live in North London, with P@H about 5miles away from me, but my local pet shop has this too. I think they have this in Pet section in Tesco's, too, so I'm sure I'll give her some. is the live yogurt the Bio kind? Sorry, English is not my first language and yogurt is my least favorite food so not really that knowledgeable about it
