Blood in Daisy's cage...
I'm worried....
I had just given Daisy her porridge this morning and was shutting her cage when I noticed that there was an amount of dried blood on the pad on top of her house.... I picked her up and have her a check over, bum was clean (although I suppose she could have cleaned it), teeth all present, no cuts that I could see
Now I'm so worried about where it has come from.
The blood was in the corner where she usually rests her head to have a sleep like in the attached photo...but there was nothing in or around her mouth that looked cut
when I put her back in her cage she looked at me wondering what all the fuss was about then pouched some food and went back to bed
It just so happens that I have a vet appointment at 6pm tonight to have her nail clipped, so I'll get them to check her over

Re: Blood in Daisy's cage...
Thats certainly a puzzle isnt it Shazzy? If there are not obvious signs of injury and she is acting like her usual self, lets hope that it was just a one off. Could she have knocked her nose in that corner, maybe had a nose bleed or something?
Good that you have a vet appointment anyway - it will put your mind at rest at least.

Re: Blood in Daisy's cage...
I really dont know what it could be - it was a fair amount of blood
She usually reaches up to the bars and chews a bit of cardboad that I weave through them, but that had been left untouched. Maybe she had decided to chew the bars instead and caught herself
I'm worried that it could have come from her lady parts, but She doesnt usually put her bum in that corner - although I dont know what she does when Im not looking
We'll see - I'll take her to the vet and if he sees nothing then I'll keep an eye on her

Re: Blood in Daisy's cage...
I think if it was from her lady parts it would have started as more spotting and then get to larger amounts over time . . . that seems to be what happens like with Mels Peggy, sorry I cant be of more help, Shazzy, hope all goes ok at the vets x x

Re: Blood in Daisy's cage...
She could have bitten her tongue when chewing! We have had this happen. They heal up quickly normally. Hope the vet finds all is well.

Re: Blood in Daisy's cage...
Hope it all goes well at the vet, I only discovered Jam was bleeding because he used to go ontop of his house so I could see it all, and there was quite a lot of it from the word go ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif) .It could have been in her urine as there then wouldn't be any trace of it on Daisy. Keep an eye out when she wees and round her cage in general
