Re: 30 Days of April 2018
Aww, the picture of Mum sheep with her darling, sleeping triplets is just heartwarming and priceless! They are all so cute. I love Mum sheep's expression, too. She looks so proud of herself for filling those tiny babies' tummies with milk so they can all have sweet dreams of adventures to come. Such a great pic!!! If it isn't obvious already, I just can't seem to get enough of these lamb/sheep pics; it makes me want to be right there with them and give them a cuddle. Btw, do you paint the sheep with a red mark to let you know that they are an expectant or new mum?

Re: 30 Days of April 2018
She does have a nice proud expression doesn't she? Those aren't actually the triplets we nursed in the house Coco These are some other triplets. The ones we nursed in the house two went back to their Mother who was struggling to feed three so the little one went to a sheep who had lost her own lamb.
The red mark is to identify them as ours. Everyone in the area has their own mark - ours is a long red mark in a certain place. They have been known to end up in someone else's flock - escaping, wandering off, jumping walls and have been known to get across the river to the fields on the other side. Doesn't happen often though.

Re: 30 Days of April 2018
I'm glad the little lamb and the poor mother sheep were able to give one another comfort and love.
The reason for the markings makes perfect sense; you certainly don't want to lose any of your precious flock or take any of your neighbors' sheep either. Thanks.

Re: 30 Days of April 2018
Yes, I remember you telling us the triplets were too much for one mother so another mother was able to foster one. Quite a lot for a ewe to feed triplets I should think.
I thought that was the answer over the red mark.

Re: 30 Days of April 2018
Day 24
Nugget's big adventure
The next few days will be about Nugget. I moved him to the Savic Mickey 2XL yesterday. We've had him 8 months and he's only had one spot clean His cage didn't smell but it was ready for a clean. So I set up the Mickey 2XL with some substrate and a few toys and thought I'd see how he liked it. He really enjoyed having a playtime (for about 2 hours!) and explored the cage and a couple of new things in it and seemed quite happy. He also discovered the flying saucer and likes it a lot! Last time he was in a play bin with a flying saucer he just hid under it. So he's older and more confident - but still not tame lol! He runs from hands and won't take food from them. However the cage is good and I could put my hand in at a level and he at least ran over my hand - progress!
I then had to put him in the pet carrier while I transferred everything over and set the cage up and moved him in - he's ok but expect it'll be a few days before he's settled and no more taming attempts for a while!
As well as taking a shine to the flying saucer, Nugget rather liked this coconut. So that has stayed in.

Here he is on the flying saucer. I have some videos but they're not ready yet.

Aww, great pics of your cute Nugget in his coconut and on his saucer! He looks extra fluffy and sweet. It sounds like he really enjoyed his playtime and new items. Glad that you are having some progress with the taming, too. Each step counts, lol.
