Littlun has a broken ladle bottom for his bowl as it fits his bottom perfectly to sit in and feed, and after seeing serendipity's salt pig for Charlie I managed to find an old plant pot which has a similar roundly shape and he has commandeered it for his main hoarding and snacking spot. Bailey has a terracotta plant saucer for his bowl. And it all cost nothing 😊 . I also make hammocks out of denim from old jeans and fix them to the bars with safety pins or paper clips. It works fine, just make sure you don't have a hamster who demolishes fabric.
Well I wouldn't know that as she has no fabric in her cage whatsover, I think I am going to make a cardboard playhouse out of a few tubes and a shoebox and thank you very much, your hammies are gorgeous!!

Hi I haven't been on in a little while as I haven't had time to go on here as often as I did before. Peanut has decided to try and chew the hole that her water bottle goes into (she can't reach it) however she makes this very loud noise as she does this. She has damaged the spout on her bottle and her substrate and her face gets drenched every time she does this and I have also been losing sleep. Any suggestions??

You could try a new bottle in a different location if possible,or a water bowl instead.

This is how her bottle is attached, using some adhesive velcro and there's only two places it can go and in the other slot I put a chew toy in there to prevent her from chewing that hole.

I think a water bowl is the best solution then.

A washer with a large enough hole for the bottle spout to go through inside to cover the hole glued or stuck with aquarium sealant.

I think there have been a few solutions posted to this before! It's probably just because the hole is there, that she is chewing at it. I would go with having the water bottle elsewhere and blocking off the hole - I can't remember where the thread is, but I think Vectis had photos of solutions (nut and bolt through the hole to block it?) I think someone else did something similar with a screw in carrot ledge (If anyone can find it that would help!)

I do think a bottle is best if at all possible - much less chance of lost water (spilled) or it getting contaminated.

You could make a bottle stand for the bottle - there are a few ideas for bottle holders on this thread

How to attach water bottle in bin cage???

Another idea on here using an upturned paper cup

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ha...holder&imgrc=_

Don't get one of those ceramic ones on ebay though, they are supposed to be a bit of a hazard.

Rodipet make wood ones but they're expensive. Living world make a tall wood one but it only holds their bottles and is difficult to fit in due to the height.

I think I'd go with the plastic jar/bottle with the top cut off and weight down with stones inside Although the stones would need to be clean obviously.

Example on here for the nut and bolt idea to block the hole

Chewing her Zoozone

Or one of these lava ledges might do the trick - I've had these - help keep nails short. I used to put a treat on it

Or instead of a bottle stand you could just velcro the bottle on the inside somewhere else.
