Re: Hamster Smiles
That is a lovely photo of Luke Jnr.
I'd echo what cypher said about a larger cage. You can use a tissue box for a house, all of my dwarf hams (except my robo) use tissue boxes, Marram actually prefers to have two at her disposal. Cardboard tubes offer shelter too in the big open spaces.

Re: Hamster Smiles
80x50cm is a decent size and it's pretty easy to get a cage that size, the Alaska is a popular choice since it's only £35. It's okay to start them off in a smaller cage sometimes so he won't take any harm while he gets used to his new surroundings but he would probably enjoy an upgrade.

Re: Hamster Smiles
Thank you I will have a wee look come payday I here a lot on ere about zoo zone and the gabber Rex would they be suitable for him? And the Alaska would it be a permanent house for him or would I need to upgrade after a while?
And the substrate is back to nature and mixed with woodshavings

Re: Hamster Smiles
I don't think the gabber rex is still available unless you can get a second hand one, could be wrong though! A zoozone would be ok, you would need to mesh the top, an alaska would be a great size for him but you would have to take care to make is safe if he climbed the bars, it is a little high for a russian but I still wouldn't rule it out.
The hamster heaven isn't a bad size although with the slope on the base it doesn't have as much space as it could have (if that makes sense) something like the barney or alexander from zooplus would work too, narrow bar spacing & plenty of room without being too high.

I can't comment on the barred cages so Cypher's your lady for that but just to add if you're looking at tank style cages, pretty sure cypher so right, I don't think the gabber Rex is available. If you like the look of the zoozone but dont fancy meshing the ferplast duna multy comes in a couple of sizes and has suitable bar sizing for the lid. The multy is about 70cm long & the multy maxi is nearly 1m I think.
