You're welcome!

The time they wake up tends to very from hamster to hamster. Most will sort of get into your routine, and learn to wake up at around the same time if you take them out each time the same night. Mine generally wake up between 6pm and 7pm.

The cage and toys sound fantastic. I think you've made a brilliant decision!

Enjoy your hamster! I think you, your son and your hamster are going to have a lovely time together

I think you've made a series of great decisions!

My last syrian was very regular about getting up about 8pm but my new little one just gets up when she hears me moving around usually about 6 or 7 or when the food bag is rustled! They can definitely be encouraged to get into a routine with dinner!

I would suggest looking for a breeder with an NHC prefix to get the hamster from rather than a pet shop as babies get more handling. Also I would recommend waiting to actually get the hamster until after Christmas, as the busyness of the time of year can be startling for a young hamster to move home.

It sounds like you're well prepared, it's a great cage and wheel. Id agree with Vectis, Christmas Day could be stressful for your new little fluff. Perhaps give your boy the cage etc on Christmas Day, with a little hamster soft toy inside and a note to say you will be taking him to chose his new pet after the Christmas period? I would also definitely reccommend a breeder if possible, as they are likely to be much more tame and easier to handle

It sounds a lovely setup for your future hamster You seem very well prepared!

I agree with both Jemmalg and Vectis, getting a hamster from a breeder rather than a pet shop can make a huge difference. Pet shop hamsters through no fault of their own have had a traumatic beginning to their life. They will very often (but not always) be harder to tame. They can be very nervous and more likely to bite. It took me three months to tame Mischief.
