However older Hamsters and young pups who are also stressed may have the mites reproduce to out of control proportions and require medical assistants using either Ivermectin(most common medical treatment) or a longer term use of Spot on to treat this type mite. I am sending good thoughts and prayer this time it is the last time for Archie to battle Mites.

Hi Nancy, had a feeling the return of Archie's mites had something to do with him being older!
Before I took him to the vet, he had been acting a bit agitated and when he had them last time, he was also the same.
He's a wee darling and the vet says he's the only hamster out the ones she treats that's so friendly and tame! He's prince charming.
I noticed a difference in him for the better last night, and today he's back to his cheeky self. After his 3 week treatment is over, I will be continuing it myself every 2 to 3 weeks. I hate seeing my hammies not well.
Thanks for your thought and prayer for Archie xx
