Re: Schofield
They can take a while to settle and do odd baby things like sleep in the wheel or potty Don't worry he will soon get everything set up to his liking and hink a fingernailget his routine too. I think a fingernail sized little bit of egg tommorrow would be OK. Remove any uneaten stuff though I doubt there will be any He has those big sad eyes that look like they have eyeliner doesn't he. He is lovely.

Re: Schofield
Sounds like he just needs a bit of time to settle in and that your little and often idea for handling will work just fine for you both.

Re: Schofield
He doesnt seem to be eating very much. Is this normal Im a bit worried as he got out of his bed for a wee walk just now and his ears were back against his head. Do hamsters do this when they are sleepy? I know it can be a sign of illness so am scared its dejavu!

Re: Schofield
He probably has a stash of food in his nest, that he collected last night. He may come back to his food bowl whilst out for a wee during the day - to pick up a tasty bit, but the chances are whilst you were sleeping he stored his food for the next day.
Ears folded back is probably becuase he just woke up - Lilbear's ears are folded over when she first wakes up. Try not to worry, as long as he's eating/drinking, pooing and weeing he is just behaving as hamsters do.

Re: Schofield
I don't think there is any such thing as being "over" protective over our little ones
He really is lovely and very small bless him, he's just scared at being so far from home but he'll settle in soon enough I'm sure. And it's brilliant you're doing the little and often handling sessions with them I've not known them to fail.
He's gorgeous, well done

Re: Schofield
Is he very small? I didnt realise. Im enjoying getting to know him etc and getting to know a new species. I have to write up a rota to make sure all the animals get my attention!

Re: Schofield
Mine do that, I think it's just because they are still half asleep. It's like when you go to the loo in the middle of the night and you have squinty eyes or if your like me, you just keep one eye half open then fall asleep on the loo...! I think it should be fine for the ears to be down for a short time after they have woken up.
