Would it drive Alv nuts having a female around?
Ive seen some real cutie ones on out local rescue centre but was wondering if the smell of a female would drive him bananas!!!! xxxxxxxxxxxx

I had 2 males and a female Syrian (brother and sister and son) at the same time, the female lived in a Gabber and the male in a normal barred cage. I don't think it bothered them. If it did I sure never saw any signs!

It really depends on the hamster. Some males just aren't bothered about girls, but others go crazy for them, especially when they are on heat! If you thought that Alvin was really bothered by a girl, you could perhaps move her to a different room, as we find they don't notice them then.

I have a male and female in the same room and they never seemed bothered. Once last year Monty did escape and went to Peepis cage - but she bit him on the nose.

I have males and females in close proximity, the boys don't seem to be overly bothered about it

He may get a bit hyper at first but they soon get used to it and settle down. They boys tend to acrobat around a lot when a female is in season. Sounds like some lovely lady is going to get a great home
