But, I now have an actual argument for having them, rather than just I like them. I've discovered that after spending work times with dogs, they make a wonderful distraction, something totally different to come home to and concentrate my mind on. I just go out to the shed, stick some music on, get them out one at a time and let the world and its issues fade away outside, its very therapeutic.
I love all white and all black hamsters! They're definitely my favourite colours. I have only ever had two robo's and one Syrian. Never had Chinese or Russian, they've never appealed that much to me for some reason but I think if I got one I'd definitely fall in love
Yeah I'm like that. Charlie always makes me laugh, he's forever climbing and falling (only from a low height). He is always yawning as well which makes me laugh because he looks so funny when he yawns :P He's a distraction from going to work everyday and everything being same old same old. He'll be better when he's tame though so I can actually play with him a bit more xo

I wanted another cat and kept showing mum pictures of cats in the RSPCA for ages and it was always a no. They just really won't give in at all, to anything lol xo
I think its an only child thing haha. My dad doesn't care luckily my mum keeps me in check. It did take me over ten years to get Betsy my rabbit though. I would like another but that is a definate NO!. Hamsters are just so addictive i think. But i wouldn't want much more as iwouldn't be able to give them as much attention and time then. I just hope i don't end rich

I usually don't get a new ham if I have an untamed one. Until my ham is completely tame and doesn't need so much of my time, I'm okay with waiting. Once Charlie tames and isn't so jumpy, it will be different. I got a pair of Campbells hybrids (red-eyed argente) who took me forever to tame. It only happened because I use a heavy suede work glove on one hand when I work with them. Once they are out of the cage, they are happy to be petted and loved. But picking them up to put them back in the cage is another story, I need the glove again! Just think about how the world looks to these wee ones. Big giant hands coming into their nice safe space. Wouldn't you bite? Hc is a great place for info and sharing. But it can be hard to not want to run out...right then and there!!! (I actually did that with the dwarfs ) This is especially true when you're looking at litters of new babies. It really is the pits that you can't get another hammy, but...parent's house, parent's rules.

Haha, I'm an only child too but they've always been very strict with what I can and can't have. My mum is usually easier to persuade about things than dad but if one says no and one says yes then it's still a 100% no lol xo

Yeah if you have one who needs a lot of taming work it might be best to just focus on them for now anyway

When we got two new hams recently it was only so easily done because we could get them out at once - each of us with one ham and providing a lot of attention for them. It meant they didn't interfere with each other at all, just with our current hams - and one would've done that anyway

I'm the kind of person that doubts myself a lot really so even though I've only had Charlie a couple of weeks, I feel like he'll never tame. I never got my robo's tame. I know they are a lot harder than Syrian's but I tried and tried and it wasn't happening so in the end I just never really held them :/ Charlie lets me stroke him provided he knows my hand is there. I made him jump once and he ran round the cage like mad. He is also taking food off me. I held a piece of cucumber for him yesterday and he happily ate away. When he bites it's just disheartening as he is from a breeder who said his hamsters should never bite and have never bitten him :/ Hopefully I'll get there with him xo

All my hamsters have bit me. 2 of them tonight lol. Daisy is the very tame one, Rosie lets me pick her up. Had her on sofa tonight she got fast and she don't like noise. Teddy will let me pick him up but not tried him on sofa as he is too fast. My boyfriend sneezed once and Teddy ran in his house and didn't come out for 4 hours. Also the other morning my boyfriend said morning to teddy, as he was still on his flying saucer that scared him so ran in his house.
Charlie will get tame, some just take longer. Have you tried putting him in a empty bath.

That's the only downside to getting more hamsters though, the cage cleaning. I understand it has to be done but I just don't know if I have the patience to be cleaning for two hours :P xo
I've had to ban myself from looking at all the preloved websites and in the P@H adoption centres. Every time I look I come back with a new ham. The cage cleaning is difficult but it's for my little babies so I just roll up my sleeves and get on with it. I do wish I could get it done in 20 mins like I used to when I only had one ham though!

Just be patient... With only one ham you've got loads of time for him
Robos can be a nightmare to tame, but almost all syrians will tame in time - it just might take a while is all. We've tamed a biter once - she was biting a lot, now she's lovely. Patience worked with her and it'll work with Charlie too

I love the all whites too, especially in the dwarfs! This is Ivy, my white robo:

Their hard to get, but not so near impossible as a white Chinese, which is very very high up on my want lost of ham colours
