Default I take it back!!!

Hi Everyone,

i think i posted something on here a while ago, along the lines of:

"people who reply to hamster for sale adverts by ringing the phone number given are genuine people"

well, i take it back now , i have just had a man ring me (withheld his number, of course ) who asked me if i had any Syrians left and then asked me how much they were. I said £7 each and then he said would you take £2 - i couldnt believe it!! He also said he wasnt made of money!! I then said to him that if he couldnt afford to pay £7 for a hamster then how could he afford to buy the food, bedding, cage, toys etc. and any vet bills which may need to be paid. He then asked me if i was joking!!! and said "how much are they really?" !!!!! I then, very calmly ( ) said i would not let one of my hamsters be bought by him, and then i said bye and put the phone down.

Obviously, he was just ringing up as a prank / joke (i hope ) but it still really annoyed me that he actually had the cheek to ring up and speak to me like that!!!!

Sorry, rant over, but i just couldnt believe it

Tammy x

Some people I hope it honestly was just a prank and he seriously isn't going to get a hamster from ANYONE. Good on you for saying what you said to him I would have said exactly the same thing to him how would he be able to even afford the vet bills for the poor little thing?
Asking for one for just £2 the cheek of some people honestly!

Some people just don't get it, pets need: food, time, cage, play, vets, treats, chews, toys, the lot. you can't just go into P@H and places and get a cage for around a tenner and say I will put a hamster in there and it'll be nice to look at and thats it.

yeah I hope he was joking too. Though people don't believe me when I say how much a pet really costs, even to just get it in the first place.

I hope he was joking but I kinda doubt it tbh - so many people are just stupid and selfish.

I'm using Freecycle a lot atm and there are all these posts asking for animals "My little son/daughter wants a bunny/guinea pig/chinchilla - has anyone got a spare one/one they AREN'T USING(!!my capitals)?" (usually littered with spelling errors - chinciller anyone?)
I guess some people are doing it from good intentions but often I think it's because they can't even be bothered to get it from a rescue and pay a donation. It's so stupid - you might get a free dog but when you add up the amount to be spent on food, vets etc, it is far from free.
One woman was asking for cats and bunnies (plus accessories of course!) literally 3 weeks ago and guess what? She is now re-freecycling animals because "she has too many pets"!!!!! The rabbits are apparently nervous because they haven't been handled (at 10 months old).
It makes me sooo angry - I can't understand people who don't appreciate an animal is a massive commitment.

Sorry to rant, this has just really annoyed me tonight At least that particular idiot hasn't got one of your lovely babies.

Some people are unbelieveable who does he think he is thats disgusting, you were right Tammy you stuck to you guns. Where did he think he was going to keep the hammy bedding food etc this all costs money. Makes me wonder if he was up to something. People just don't get it. I went into P@H today there were 2 syrians in the adopt (yes I was very tempt had to pull myself away) and it said my owner no longer wanted me there were 2 with the same so when we were paying for the purchases we said to one of the girls about them and they said a family came in and said we don't want these anymore we can't be bothered to look after them anymore how sick are they I bet those poor hammies haven't been treated properly for months. I really hope they go to good homes. A couple of rats were just being bought in for the adoption centre as we were just leaving too, seems ou society is a throw away society even with animals ames me sick. Our animals never leave the house apart from the vets and they never really leave as when they have died they are buried. We would never get rid of an animal. £2 he's a complete

I know this is a strange suggestion, but maybe he was hoping to sell them on to friends for more and make money out of them. strange ideas come to my head all the time, don't mind me.

Some people don't realise a small furry is just as much a commitment as a larger animal. Most people thought I was mad taking our rabbit to the vet. OK, it was £300 which I could have done without spending, but he is my responsibility. A lot of people were of the opinion that I should have just got another one . Luckily the people that I know who think like this are sensible enough not to get an animal in the first place.
