I got a hamster starter pack
I got a hamster starter pack from p@h for free, no idea why really but hey.
should I give my hamsters the vitamin drops in there food? I change there food twice a day, once in the mornaing and once in the evening.
You don't get much info with these.
And I give them vitamine treats anyway. would this be different?

i threw most of my p@h pack away
i used the sawdust on the garden, gave the hams the food and binned the rest. i don't think they need the vitamin drops as long as they have a good diet.

Hi Ness You get them free with a certain priced cage. I got them quite a few times with many different cage. I used the vitamin drops on there food weekly when they were cleaned out. It certainly won't do any hard and might do some good. Weekly is fine. Not sure about giving both though don't want to overload them. Its up to you which you use. The choccie drops none of ours really like them we buy the naturals range with all the yummy stuff. The sawdust I use for rabbit litter tray. Book no good for us we gave it away to a lovely girl who had one of our baby hammies she really liked it. The bedding we used for when we had litter of babies. We might use it again for the summer months. The drops we use weekly when they are cleaned out.
I hope this helps

Like sarahh, I've had quite a lot of these packs for free - I've got one every time I've bought a Savic Rody at P@H.
I use the woodshavings and bedding, and I've given the choc drops, vitamin bottle and P@H food (its has too much sugar in for my liking) to either the RSPCA or Furry Friends animal rescue (along with the wheel that comes with each Rody)...both of whom were very grateful. Everyone's a winner.

Maybe rather than throwing these things away in future, people can give them to their nearest rescue? Most rescues are crying out for these things and are very grateful for anything you can give them.

Personally, I think the starter pack is a great idea - for the level it's aimed at.
It's really aimed at first-time pet owners - people new to hamster ownership, who are not likely to have the same requirements as members of the fancy, and it's a good way of providing them with the basics... quite literally out of the box!
It's a step in the right direction, I feel - and something I would encourage more pet stores to become involved in.

aside from the first time, i've just refused the starter pack the other times i've bought Rodys. there's no point cos i only use the paper bedding out of it! i don't want about 5 of the same rubbish book.... although it's a different one now

Oops, I was too quick to hit 'reply' to give this the endorsement it deserves!

i searched and searched, but there isn't one any where near me. I had a whole load of stuff, inc. a massive bag of chinchilla dust i bought by mistake and i really wanted to donate it, but only cat and dog stuff at my 2 nearest RSPCAs
