oh did you have a tear in your eye Souffle? I did. Bailey is still one of the most stunning and intelligent looking hamsters I have seen. In every photo she just looks as though she is really 'saying something'. A very special girl indeed, and I know how much her loss must have affected you, as I never met her but still talk about her and how beautiful she was. x

I did spud's mum but she is still here in our hearts and I see her in the faces of her children and now her grandchildren I don't know if you have noticed but my avator is a beautiful picture of Bailey that Snuggleham drew for me. I will always treasure that.

I was going to mention that your avatar looked just like the photo where Bailey is surrounded by her Pups in the Gabber.
Snuggleham drew it for you especially? That's lovely, and it does capture her well doesn't it?
Along with your reminders in her children and grandchildren, you have those beautiful photos and the avatar - that must be nice. It sounds awful in a way, but with our Peanut getting so old now, I am making a special effort to capture him in photos for the future. As he was our first hamster in a while we didn't really take any photos of him as a young man in his prime and I already really regret that.

I wish we had digital cameras years back as sadly I have so many hamsters over the bridge with nothing more than memories to remember them by. Always try to take as many as you can, they are with us for such a relatively short time but they do touch our hearts so very deeply

You are so right! I certainly won't be making that mistake again - and with digitals today it is so easy that there really is no excuse! Though my hamsters are so used to photos now I'm sure they act up, turn around at the important time or pull funny faces just to wind me up! It is amazing how quickly they can move in the time it takes for me to press a button!!

I never took enough pictures of Jelly and really regret it now she's gone
I now have a rule - I must take photos of them all atleast once a month which results in a lot of similar looking photos but heyy!

I know what you mean Jane, it is hard to get different looking photos. But you and Pophammy take some really good ones and I am sure that (hopefully not for a long long time) when you lose one of your beloved pets they will all be looked at and pored over with love, each and every photo!

I think a good thing to do is put them in different places and on different backgrounds..like, sat on a teddy, snuggled up in something cute, their pouches full, sat with something interesting etc. helps..but still, it's hard to find new things (and to get the hammies to stay there long enough :P it's usually a two man job for us, I hold the camera, my brother puts the hamster down and I press the button like a second after, then usually the hamster is in the right place...)
lol we've turned the thread into a photo thread now.. sorry lol
