Default Ugh, sandyyy

I'm meant to be going away for the weekend tomorrow, so I have been getting ready.. I was removing the sweetcorn from the harry hamster. When I noticed a certain little missus hanging by her feet, over the perspex divider in her cage, it's the thing to keep all the substrate in,
Then she fell and started running between the tiny gap between the perspex and the doors =/

So, NOW, I have to put her in the 70x30 aquarium instead of her 110x50 cage =/

Why can't she just be happy and not be a silly billy, every time I rescue her, and put her back in the cage..she does it again, I think she has realised I let her out if she does it..but I'm not always there =/

I do love her, but she's a silly little missus sometimes.

Why don't you remove the perspex and put the cage on something like an old towel or mat of some kind that you can just shake out to get rid of substrate she's chucked out? Then she can stay in her big cage without the risk of getting stuck.

Her substrate is 6 inches deep, it'd all come out without the perspex, I'm going to put her back in, but I have work tomorrow, and am away all weekend, so I can't fix her current cage yet, will fix it next week though, >.<
Just they always act up just before you go away.
I think she's just in the mood to be out tonight..

For some reason hamsters seem to love something even more if they are told not to do it. If I move Pippa away from something when she's out she will spend the whole time going back to that place. XxX

If you were to fill in the gap between the perspex and the door with cardboard or something, would that help? :/ Silly hammy ruining her chances of a big cage while you're away!

And now she is biting me again, she's got this cage aggressive streak where she hates things coming from above... and since she's in an aquarium atm I have to come from above >.< Made me bleed twice this morning.
I took the day off work because I was up till 1 trying to sort cages etc out last night (one of my hamsters is moving back to my boyfriends today )

I was thinking of using cardboard to seal the gap for the moment, and replacing it with skatelite at a later time (the material my cage is made out of, like mdf but waterproof)
At least I found this out before I'd set up the second cage

And Hannah..sandy is just like that. In fact...all of them are >.< they know who's boss I suppose

Of topic but i was told its unnecessary to remove the sweetcorn from the harry hamster, i think it was by Souffle.
I read all over the place of people removing it believing its sugary and bad for dwarfs, but i was told this is a fallacy. So i stopped doing it.

Obviously i'm not expert and i could be wrong, but maybe you coudl talk to someone like souffle or internet_nobody to check

Yeah, when i mentioned food I was told to remove all the sweetcorn, >.< I don't mind doing it to be honest.. But I thought the 'sweet' meant it'd be high in natural sugars, and I'm really paranoid about diabetes.

But if it's not true, I can stop making my boyfriend do it when he's feeding pillow

a question on the sweetcorn bits, I hate them as they seem rock solid like they could do some serious damage to the hammies teeth. Am i wrong? I remove them from the mix..

Sen loves sweetcorn, both fresh and dried. Last week I gave her one of those dried corn on the cobs, and she must have been at it all night because in the morning it was empty and she'd put all the corn on her top shelf... She usually just eats the insides of them (because I'd find the shells still in tact), really don't know how she does it though :/ So I don't think they are too hard. Are hamsters not pretty clever in realising what's too hard? I got these dried berries once which were ROCK solid, and I tried giving one to Sen and she just stored it in her bed. Never touched it...

You managed to get your cage sorted now Katie?
