Re: Fingers crossed on adopting a hammy from RSPCA
Sandy, my platinum argente has faded a bit since we've had her, I also saw some photos of robos with a platinum gene who end up completely white.. I assume there's something similar in hybrids also.
I bet he'll settle in, It might be best to leave him a few days before attempting a cuddle..but I know that when you have a cute little baby it can be hard to resist
I can't believe he was there so long either.. I don't have any small rescue centres near me though... apart from rabbit and guinea pigs, but the dwarves at p@h adoption don't seem to be there that long (apart from sesame who'd been there over a month..) but 6 months seems rediculous!
that poor little thing, I bet he has a great personality though ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
And he's clever figuring out the sand bath straight away..mine weren't quite as bright sadly ;p
Don't forget to give us updates

Re: Fingers crossed on adopting a hammy from RSPCA
I am so pleased you got him Mandy. He is really lovely. He is not a mainly Winter white though as you don't get WW with red eyes. He is closer to a Campbells. He does look like he has a sprinkling of top colour and is probably of hybrid type.
I don't understand why nobody loved him for so long. Never mind - he is home now and I'm sure he will reward you richly for the love you give him.
We use either electrical tape or the silver duck tape to hold down the wheels!

Re: Fingers crossed on adopting a hammy from RSPCA
Thank you everyone. He is fitted in really well. He has been on his wheel for an hour and gone and curled up behind his bath fast a sleep. He also went to sleep in his bath too. He walked on to my hand earlier which is good so said hello to him for a few seconds and put him back. He loves his new home and is climbing on top of everything. I had another look at him and his fur on his bum/back is a bit blonde. He is not as white as sookie but a slight off white. But he use to have patches so perhaps he will stay the colour he is now. I think he is so cute, he seems to be very happy and very active. Once he has settled in i will get him out and give him a check over and make sure he is a little boy. They kept on calling him a she then when i said "isnt it a little boy!!" so i will check just in case. I am going to order him a ball so he can explore more

Re: Fingers crossed on adopting a hammy from RSPCA
Awwh, sounds great, and sandy is a very light cream, with arches of ginger on her lower body, hips etc, and she's platinum argente (I think) because just argente is gingerish..
Idk..but yeah, I'm glad he's settling in, and it makes it even more sad when they are so happy in their new homes when you think about how love-less their life before has been..poor boy. (or girl ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif) )

Re: Fingers crossed on adopting a hammy from RSPCA
Well i had a look at him why he was leaning against the glass and i am sure i have seen a scent gland so i think he is a little boy ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif) He has been in and out of his bath all night and his fur is really fluffy looking. You can also make out a line down the middle of his back. This patch on his bum is very very light cream. He is warn out from his wheel poor thing, all the fun he has missed out on. I am so glad we got him and even hubby is in love with him which is good. Cant wait for the boys to see him when they get back tomorrow

Re: Fingers crossed on adopting a hammy from RSPCA
Ahh thank you i will ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif) He is so happy and that makes me happy. He actually made me cry on how sad his life has been so i am going to make sure he is spoilt to make up for it.

Re: Fingers crossed on adopting a hammy from RSPCA
I know what you mean, I got Pickle from someone who didnt have time for him anymore, he had no wheel, empty dish and was stuck in a tube thing when i went to get him. His old owner said he loves it in his tube as hes been there for days..!!! poor thing was stuck. I had a cry and he still makes me go all awwww when i think about his old life. Have all the family met him yet?
