Re: What's in the bowl today?
Today's meal, I made a mix of fresh asparagus, squash, carrots & chicken (chicken was first time for both of my hammies) and they seemed to really like it!.. seed mix, and treats; raison..

Oh celery was a no no no no no! hahaha First thing I've seen that Freya doesn't like! I hid a monkey nut in a folded up toilet roll middle last night and she has made a fab job of biting through to retrieve it!

Re: What's in the bowl today?
Mine have got some spouted mung beans tonight, had them on the window sill for a couple of days (changing the water/paper towels etc.). Twiglet has never had any before but I know they are a special favourite of my dwarfies, especially Oak

Evel_lin I agree! Though as much as she liked the egg and toast, I was surprised she didn't pouch any of it. She just ate what she wanted.
I've never heard of mung beans before. I tried fresh green beans but she wouldn't eat them.

You can get them from the supermarket, I bought mine from a big chain beginning with T
I get a small pot, stick a sheet of kitchen roll on the bottom, put some beans on top, then another sheet of kitchen roll on top of that. Add water so the paper is damp and leave them for a few days. I change the paper every 12 or 24 hours depending how organised I am. The beans swell up and a little root comes out, that's the point at which I give them to my hamsters

Re: What's in the bowl today?
Evel_lin we aren't in the same country. You could spell out the name and I'd still be clueless. LOL
Interesting proccess for beans though. Too much work for me. I don't even want to grow catnip grass for cats. Kinda the same amount of work I think. lol
