Default A few questions about hamster mix?

When we first got Chief we bought a bag of hamster food from the same pet shop, that's the bag I've always got when having hamsters and that is what he is used too. But we wanted to try Chief on something else so I bought the premium bag from P@H and put little bits from that with the food he is used to but he doesn't like the P@H food and that is always left so my first question is could I feed the premium mix to my robo Pickles? She has her own dwarf hamster mix but I wasn't sure if I could put a little bit of this premium mix in there too because I don't want to just throw it away unless I have too.

The other thing I was wondering about is what other things could I add to their mixes because I've seen other people mention things like bird seed and dried fruit. I'd like to add more variety into their diet but I'm a bit confused which foods would be ok for each hamster.

Sorry I wrote a bit much, thank you for any help.

Yes, you can give small amounts of the premium mix to Pickles safely.

The hamster central wiki has a list of safe foods for hamsters, or searching through this forum got me loads of ideas about hamster food.

Oh where's racinghamster when you need her? lol, like krilliondaemon said, there's loads of great advice if you search on here and sort through past threads. Although I bet you'll get some good responses still!

Oh yeah, you'll probably get good answers anyway, I just find searching faster sometimes.

A basic idea of things to add to their diet is stuff like mealworms (great for dwarves), porridge oats, fresh veg a few times a week e.t.c
Bird seed is also good (ours adore millet), and fruit of all kinds (and carrots actually) is sugary so should never be fed to hybrid or chinese dwarves. Syrians can get it in moderation, as can roborovskis. I'm not sure about the other two dwarf species, but I think you need to be more careful with campbells than winter whites (that may be wrong though).
