Default Would this be ok?

I was having a look on zooplus tonight at the various food available for hamsters, and wondered if this one would be ok for a Chinese hamster? It looks nice and varied in the picture with smaller bits for Harry to chew. Here is the link:
Prestige Hamster Crispy - Great Deals on Hamster Food at zooplus

And just incase anyone can't read it, here is the list of ingredients and nutritional analysis:

Quote:
Ingredients:
wheat, sunflower seeds, shelled peanuts, peas, barley, protein extrudate, corn flakes, pea flakes, carob, extrudated beans.

Analysis

ash 3.0 %
fiber 7.0 %
vitamin A 8750.0 IU
vitamin D3 1800.0 IU
protein 15.0 %
fat 10.0 %
vitamin E (tocopherol) 50.0 mg
I could always use it as a base for Harry and add puffed rice and dog biscuits to it for him if it is close to being suitable I thought I was as well asking seeing as I came across it

It contains `corn flakes` Roz, which I`m prezuming are flaked corn? Carob I think is a kind of locust bean? I know rats and mice don`t like these. I still think your best option would be to order from Burgess`s website and get the Supahamster Harvest!

Only having Harry, it will last you a while and if you add in the puffed rice, millet, mealworms, Buckwheat and oats as I do, this bulks it out even more, so it`s worth just buying the 750g bag or maybe two in one order.

The Zooplus stuff is usually good, but sometimes websites don`t state whether these foods are sprayed with fructose/molasses or have anything else added. That would be my only concern really. Hopefully someone else can advise on this particular food if they have used it.

The protein is a tad too low, should be around 16-19% protein and 4-7% fat I think, so the protein is a tad too low..and the fat is far too high sadly. The fat is the bigger concern

Dear god, I did`nt notice the fat content! Remember Roz, if you do order from Burgess online, I can always order a couple of bags in for you on the odd chance that you are going up to Dundee or passing through this way. A couple of bags of the Hamster Harvest will keep you going for a while.

Do you not have any local pet shops that sell Harry Hamster food or similar?

As said, fat is a bit too high and protein is too low.

Nope, i even checked the burgess website and they don't know of any suppliers within a 40 mile radius of me!! Thankfully though Racinghamster pointed out I can order directly from Burgess so I will do that Thanks for your reply and pointing out that this food wasn't suitable I'm glad I checked otherwise I would have ordered it and just added in some extra bits and pieces!!

That`s good that at least you have the Burgess direct ordering Roz and if you need to order any bags through me, you know just to give me a shout.
