ewwww i found a cocoon in my hamsters food!

i just fed kevin and i noticed loads of webs on the lid of his food which i found super weird them i looked closer and i found a cacoon!!! so i opened it up with ear buds to see if there was anything inside and i swear it was a mealworm!! do mealworms come from cacoons or am i going crazy? it was definatly a worm type thing and it definatly wasnt dryed!!. im using supa hamster food, shall i throw away the rest?

and seeing as the webs are stuck to the lid is there something alive in his food?? i tried to take a picture but my phone camera is rubbish and its blurry.

Ewww! I'd throw it away to be safe. Who knows what came out of there and where it went.

I have Dwarf Hamster Mix food for Kizzy my dwarf hamster which has dried meal worms in and i've never seen any cocoons in it

thank you for the replies! i have the worst luck with hamster stuff hehe, the webs freaked me out more i thought there was a spider living in the food lol.

i just looked at the other half that i have in storage and theres another one in the lid!!! this is discusting, does that mean the worms are alive in there??? also who do i complain to, pets at home or burgess? thank you

heres a picture, im usually the type of person that would ignore it and buy another pack, but this is discusting, and i hope it doesnt make kevin ill

im gna email burgess and send them photos, i dont think pets at home will do much, as i dont have the receipt. my poor baby cnt believe ive been feeding him this!

thats awful!! I would email Burgess and inform them of what you have found but I would also bring it up to P@H to let them know of your discovery. They may have had other complaints from other people who have had the same issues.
It would freak me out if I saw that :I

i emailed burgess, i want to go buy another bag tomorrow becuase hes used to eating it, but its put me off now

i dont know what to feed him tomorrow :s i have some pets at home mix so ill prob feed him that.

it has honestly freaked me out im not scared of bugs or anything but the way its in the lid makes me wonder how it got there there is a good 3cm between the top of the food to the lid, i feel like theres worms inside his food and im too scared to look lol.
