Default A couple of questions (storage + dose)

I've been wondering about a couple of things for some time.

First, I got a 5 pound bag of RMH3000 LabDiet pellets. They are in a plastic bag, and I separated a bunch to a small zip-lock baggie for daily feeding. The rest is still in the large bag. Does anyone have a suggestion how the 5lb bag should be stored? It's going to get pretty humid soon with the warm temperature and summer rains, so I'm not sure if my current method of keeping the bag in a cupboard tightly closed with an elastic band is sufficient. I thought about putting it in the freezer, but it's 1. huge and 2. seems like it would introduce moisture to the hard pellets.

Second question is about the amount of food to feed. I'm giving Lucy ~1 teaspoon of food a day (a bit over): Ecotrition Organic mix + mealworm + RMH3000 pellet + porridge oats + a teensy bit of organic flax seeds + organic millet.
My robos get a spoon and a half of the same stuff. Now, I see a lot of photos on this site where food bowls are just FULL of a seed mix, and it makes me wonder if I'm doing something wrong. Is it just a different approach where hams get a large bowl of food and eat it over a few days? (Seems to encourage selective eating and is wasteful otherwise).

Thanks.

I give my hamsters a scoopful of food mix, but only refill it every few days or so, it's personal preference, on my current mix I've found they only leave the alfalfa, which hamsters rarely eat anyway.
When I clean them out their stores are full of the nicer food, so they're eating the pellets from their mix and leaving a bit of the millet etc (saving for later) I found I waste less if I leave it a few days between feeding, however since I added extras to their mix I have fed them less than before, as there is more for them to selectively feed on, and I don't want to encourage them to do that.

Sorry I can't help wth storing.
But I don't fill their bowls up, although I don't like to feed everyday either.
It depends on personal choice really, I like to monitor how much they eat closely, however I do like them to have more than enough rather than just enough for a day.
Whereas some find it suits them to fill the bowl up each week and wait for the hamster to eat most of it.

Maybe store them in airtight bags? The ones where you suck all of the air out.

And I think what you're doing is just fine. I also give 2 teaspoons over a few days.
