Re: Baby Dakota
Dakota can be either masculine or feminine name. There are two states here North Dakota and South Dakota. So she is named after a state

Aww she's a pretty little thing. Love the name Dakota.
Does she have red eyes?

Re: Baby Dakota
Thanks Lizzy & FF, she does have red eyes. Also, CB had a nicer coat but she's nice as well to me (CB is irreplaceable)
Taming breakthrough, she was on top of her house, so I put my hand in there as a elevator to the ground floor lol
At first she was looking for a seed then she started getting ready to attack me so I dropped a seed just in time. That is in my hand with her in it. Then I laid my hand on the floor of her cage with her still in my hand & gave her another seed & she ate it and then just walked off as I pulled my hand back. That's a big step

Re: Baby Dakota
She's so cute and tiny! It's a pity she bites. Maybe you can break her habit. I hope she grows out of it

Re: Baby Dakota
Thanks all, I hope so too, it would be unexpected if I can train her out of it as I never was able to get the biting out of Chloe. I'll still love her either way

Re: Baby Dakota
She is making a great pet, very active & inquisitive. High energy. I've just been feeding treats sometimes in the middle of the night when I get up. Give them a little attention then back to sleep.
I haven't given her a chance to bite me. There is the possibility that I could win her trust & possibly she'll stop biting? Slowly getting her to trust me thru food & getting her familiar with being with me. Just taking my time & giving her time as well. So the taming process is slow but steady. I'm already attached to her. Expect a tame hamster eventually hopefully?
