Re: Expedit hamster cage : need help !!!
Hi! I don't know if it will help but I recently converted an unused wooden bookshelf in our home and liquid seeping through the wood is my first concern but luckily enough; whoever made our bookshelf used some wood putty/filler on it and the putty stops any liquid from seeping into the wood.
It also makes it easier to clean up as I only have to wipe any stains with damp cloth.
Hope it helps..

I did something similar to this, but I used aquarium sealant on every joint and corner

Re: Expedit hamster cage : need help !!!
We're going with contact paper as it is replacable... When one of our hammie dies, I would prefer to totally change the surface...
Sometimes, here, we don't have the same products than you guys over the pond... =/ It sometimes makes it difficult...

Contact paper is otherwise called stickyback plastic, for those who're confused. It's good stuff.
