Default Yoshi my Little Man!

So, today I went into the okay pet shop I travel 1 1/2 hours to get to because it's decent. I needed food, a new wheel for Colby, some more sand for the baths, a new light for Aurora, just basic things.

This store has two hamster tanks. One has around 4-5 baby Syrians in it, all males usually, it's about 20 gallons. Not ideal, but not really bad.

The other has hybrids, about 8-9 usually, and it's 20 gallons also.

But for some reason, they got one Chinese today. I freaked at the sight; we don't usually have chineses here. But then I realised he couldn't live with those dwarfs. I also knew that someone would come to get a pair, they'd see the "different one" and get him and a hybrid. I freaked. But then things ran through my head.

"Mozzarella is due on Wednesday. You'll have enough hamsters."

"But he's going to get killed, or someone is."

"You already have 8! Control yourself!"

"You're his only hope..."

"YOU JUST GOT GERBILS AND A CAT I THINK YOU WILL BE OKAY WITHOUT HIM."

So, I walked out. His little eyes looked at me, like he was saying, "Please help me, take me home..." But I was determined. Bought my stuff and got out of that store.

I went out and had lunch. He was in my mind. I couldn't stop thinking about him.

So I went back. But I didn't see him. I freaked. This couldn't be happening! I made the poor pet shop lady dig for him for like 20 minutes.

Finally, I found him. His little nose and eyes looked at me, as if to say, "You came back for me?"

I got him out for a minute, he's totally calm and tame. And tiny at 38g! He looks bigger in the pics than he is! Anyway, hope you like him:

Is he fairly timid? I imagine the Colby house is pretty packed by now... wowzers. The only place I can get Chinese hams it seems is from the really bad pet store. They specialize in reptiles and fish, so they don't really care much for their small animals. About five hams to a small hagen starter cage (at least) grungy water bowl, and no wheel. Sad, sad, sad.

Not at all! I reached in his cage to feed him this morning and he climbed up my arm, lol.

It's full, but full of love! Lol, that sounds cheesy.

That pet store sounds like the bad one close to me. About 10 baby Syrians or 14 adults dwarfs to a five gallon, maybe a ten. They can barely move!

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. There is something about a chinesy hams face. Those soulful eyes. You need to update your list of pets Colby. I'n sure it's outdated by now.

What a lovely wee man he is Colby and I would have been worried if I`d seen him housed with Russian dwarfs too. Does this shop know that Chinese hamsters are solitary? They really should be told.

Expect to lose him inside your top a lot! Chinese hamsters love to climb. He will have a nice, secure home now and good on you for noticing him inside that tank. Goodness knows what the outcome would have been had he been sold with another species of hamster. x

I guess they don't. I'll tell them, but I doubt they'll listen.

It's like you know him, he's done that like twice now lol. And thank you.

I'm shocked that they had him in with Russians! Poor guy, he must have been so confused. Glad he's out of there and will get to be happy now.
