Re: Eric!
Your baby steps are being rewarded Claire. The one thing with Chinese hamsters is slowly and patiently. If anything goes wrong, take a step back and start again. Eric will use his intelligence now and soon realise that his new mum is a nice thing! x

Re: Eric!
Thanks RH! We had another little chat and hand treat time whilst he was up this evening. He didn't get on my hand but he did let me pat his back whilst he was taking a little bit of shrimp cookie I was holding. He had his little paws holding on to my fingers I really am just following his lead and hopefully he always feels in control, which is why he might feel a bit braver now. It is a bit frustrating at times as all I want is to give him a wee cuddle, but seeing these little bits of progress is all worth it!

Re: Eric!
I love it when they `grip` with their little paws. They are such lovely little creatures. I`ve only had the pleasure of owning one Chinese female and I can honestly say she was one of the best pets I have ever had. x

Re: Eric!
That little grip is the sweetest thing ever RH. Melts my heart!!
I'm pleased to say that little Eric's new found confidence doesn't seem to be a one-off. Tonight, for the second time, he got on my hand of his own accord, allowed me to hold him for about a minute before hoping off. I managed to snap this pic of him climbing on. Apologies for the blurryness but I was trying to get the pic without moving and scaring him at all haha!!

Re: Eric!
It`s great that he`s showing signs of being happy now considering he came from an adoption centre. He`s obviously adapting well to his new home and to you and Chinese hamsters do form bonds with their owners once they realise you are someone who is gentle and kind. x

Re: Eric!
It's my very own Christmas Eve miracle!
Eric has come on to my hands and allowed me to lift him up. My brave little guy. I love this little one! I was only going in to change his water. He literally ran over to my hand. I've not actually been able to handle him at all since Thursday either due to the cold. He must have missed me!
(Note the towel on my chest! My cold is pretty much gone but I'm still wrapping the towel around my nose and mouth and thoroughly scrubbing my hands and arms. Better safe than sorry!)
Here he is. My boyfriend was there so able to snap this pic. I think he was just as excited as me!
Bold little Eric

Re: Eric!
He looks almost like my Basil! I think your cage is just fine as Basil love his little hidy holes

Re: Eric!
I have just read all 2 pages and what an amazing transformation. It is so nice that you took him home and gave him the time he needed to become a happy and brave little boy.
He is beautiful and I hope you have a long time together <3
