Doing an Assignment - Breeding Roborovskis
Hello!
For an assignment I need to create a presentation on caring for orphaned young of an animal of your choice, naturally I have chosen a Roborovski!
My question is: If mother has passed, does the owner need to care/ assist the young in expelling waste?
Thank you!

If they're very young then I'm pretty sure that's a yes.

re: Doing an Assignment - Breeding Roborovskis
It depends on the age of the pups. From around 2 weeks or so they are more or less able to feed and toilet themselves. Younger pups need stimulation to eliminate. Normally you would use a damp cotton ball to flick around the two vents till the pup urinates and passes feaces. It should imitate a mother licking the young and needs done after every feed. The pups need cleaned as well. It is extremely difficult to hand rear young small mammals. The younger they are the harder it becomes. Their greatest need is for warmth as young animals cannot maintain their body temperature and chill easily however the heat must be the correct level and steady like it would be snuggled in to their mother. They need feeding at least every 2hrs and 24hrs a day at first. Young animal substitute milks are things like Lactol. It needs thinkened with something like baby rice. Hamster milk is quite rich and thick.

OOH! Thank you everyone! I knew that you had to clean them and I've written about how Iodine solutions within the water should be a part of raising the young, so that when you wash the pups or the animal washes itself it reduces the risk of infection.
Thank you all! That's marvellous info

Roborovski Pups- weight
Hi all!
Another question for the assignment!
I'm trying to calculate the percentage increase of weight for a Roborovski from being a pup to an adult. I have the average weight and lower/ upper scales but I left my book about Roborovski at home, which contains my answer!
Therefore, how much does a Roborovski weigh from 0-8 weeks?
Thank you !

Re: Doing an Assignment - Breeding Roborovskis
I have absolutely no idea about the weights.
There is loads of info on the Oak farm site though please be aware that Tammy is highly experienced in robo breeding so has taken the pictures safely and less experienced people should not undertake this type of project. Oak Farm Roborovskis

Thank you, this assignment is purely theory based, therefore, breeding shall not be undertaken. I do know this of course Thank you for your help! I shall have a look on their website

I found their birth weight! Interestingly enough they are 1.2g at birth and increase 2083% in weight, if they are 25g!
