Owning 3 or more syrians
This isn't breeding or pregnancy related, but I know there's a few breeders on here who I feel have experience with this issue compared to the other categories of the form.
How do you keep your hamsters from getting "agitated" by one another? For instance if a female is in heat smelling the male hamsters in the same room. Or the males smelling the females and being more restless than normal. Do they ever just get used to it? Because there's no real way to block the smell as their all in the same room the way I assume many of you keep your hamsterys

Re: Owning 3 or more syrians
I don't breed (yet), but I do have two males and a female Syrian in my bedroom I find that the boys don't seem to act any different in their cage when my girl's on heat, but they do get very interested if I handle them after I have handled her, whether she is on heat or not! They start licking my hands and any parts of my clothes that she's been on, it's actually quite amusing

Re: Owning 3 or more syrians
My hamsters go crazy! They usually try escape from their cages, but when on heat everyone starts going bonkers. Myrcella runs around super fast and tries her best to climb the wheel and the glass, Abe becomes spider man, Winston starts singing and belle just becomes more active than usual. I don't think there really is anything you can do.
I don't really think they're agitated by each other, they just want to get out and see each other, maybe agitated by the fact they cant get out of the cage, haha.

Re: Owning 3 or more syrians
I have five hamsters and because I am not a breeder have decided to have one gender per species of hamster.
Three syrian males and two roborovski females.
I am currently in love with a chocolate female hamster in our local pet shop but would be concerned that it would be frustrating for the boys. Also I have run out of space!
