Today is day 28.
Everyone is doing REALLY well. The bigger pups range from 82-94g and the two itty bitties are working on catching up. The male is closer than Chrysie but honestly Chrysie is doing way better than I ever thought she would. I was really concerned we would lose her. She's gained a lot and is gaining grams like they're cookies. I'm sure if you give her a couple months she'll be caught up, or at least close.
Cady is seriously the sweetest hamster and is out as much as I can get her. My partner does like Belt tort (name pending) but as she was not QUITE as friendly and of course her type is not as ideal, she's got a great home lined up. Stripey has one of two homes (#1 isn't emailing me back, I haven't heard since the day before pups arrived so have given her a few more days before I move on :/) and I've poked my next gal on the waiting list about Creampuff. If that doesn't work out, she'll go to the next person.
Arya got moved out (and Pekoe got kicked out, sorry Pekoe!). Pekoe was living in Arya's aquarium while Arya tended her pups, but now Pekoe is in a bin waiting to go on her last litter adventure (haven't bred her yet, but in the next week or so). I nabbed a picture before I moved out Arya. Everyone seems sleepy!
Belt tort tried to get in one last suckle... LOL!
"Peace out kids, enjoy your next adventure!"
Arya was a FABULOUS mother, so patient and very mellow with me. She played with the pups the last few days, and in general, was just fantastic. I'm not sure if she'll have another litter but she will certainly get some time to just relax. She did gain a lot of weight (no wheel + pup porridge... yum!) so I'm keeping an eye on that. I palpated her belly and gave her a full check over, no lumps or anything concerning so I think she's just fat... sorry Arya! She now has a Carolina Storm Express wheel to play on so I'm sure she'll lose it soon.
I'll update with the pups now, but they're going home soon! I owe you guys some updated pictures of everyone as they've all grown. They're still a bit hand shy, but are fine once in your hand. I don't know if I did something differently with Pekoe's gang, or if Pekoe's pups were just more naturally inclined to hop onto my hand, but we'll see.
Arya and her litter were not "hand hoppers", so it might be something I have to work doubly hard on.
