Default Lots of Babies

We have three current litters and two pending and one planned.

We have gone slightly baby crazy as the demand for our babies is insane and all our females are now the right age.

1. Ochre x Dante. Litter of 5 Yellows and 1 Honey. (3 males, 3 females) They are now weaned and one female seperated asshe is a bully. Our best male found a new home on Saturday at Blenheim.

2. Bling x Dante. Satin Dove Tort x Yellow. 1 Golden Umbrous (male), 1 x Satin Yellow (female), 1 x Satin Cinnamon (female), 1 x Satin LBJ/Chocolate (female). Eyes will open in about a week and photos will appear.

3. Fanta x Dante. Cinnamon x Yellow. 2 x V.dark Goldens (1 male, 1 female) and 5 x V. dark Cinnies. Lovely coloured animals but none will be show quality.

----

Pending Litters:

4. Bessy x Dante. Black Dom Spot x Yellow. Dante doesnt carry black so nothing exciting in that sense. The entire litter is reserved as the last litter was too. The last litter was doves, dove torts, dove tort dom spots, cinnies and goldens in solid and dom spots. (is at day 13 and HUGE)

5. Latte x Dante. LH Yellow x SH Yellow. Dante is doing great things and so we have high hopes for this next litter of Yellows!! I would like another nice Yellow to show, Dante did alright at Thame, he was about a year old though.

Planned Litters:

6. Mr Squishy x Delilah. SH BEC (1st in his class at Thame) x LH Sable. Mr Squishy has so far failed to get ANYTHING pregnant however with Delilah in season (and quarantine) i let him sniff my hands and at a year old he has shown his first interest in girly smells!.

When Old Enough:

7. New LH Yellow (BVH) x Pecan (SH Smoke Pearl)

8. Pistachio (SH Smoke Pearl) x Yellow (Dante)

Thats all I can remember for now!!! The Pearl litters might run over into late this year/early next year as we will have our hands full.

However we hope to have a litter or two bred to hopefully have new babies to show in September and also a litter or two planned to hopefully have on the sales table in September! I know how unfair it is that we steal so many nice babies so we decided we might 'do our bit' and make sure we have babies on the table too for y'all.

Photos pending with out two current litters as their eyes will open soon!

With Dante being the father of 6 of the litters does that not somewhat limit your future development Moosley? Do you supply pet shops as that is a huge number of baby hamsters?
Looking forward to seeing them when their eyes are open.

Hehe, it does limit us a lot, he was until recently our only decent male that fit in with the colours of our females. Dante improves over the females so much that we wanted all our best girls to go to him so that we will have babies to keep as Dante not only improves on the females but on himself too. The poor boy will be knocked off the top spot by one of his sprogs at this rate

Even with this many babies! We are having no problems homing them without petshops! We have so many requests coming in, it helps with the school/scout/social events we do 'animal talks' at as *EVERYONE* falls in love with Mr Squishy.

There *are* two pets shops that our babies now go to sometimes because we like what they do and they approached us by word of mouth that we bred and asked to see the parents before we bred them and so on. I like their set up, no cages within reach of little children with grubby fists banging on the sides.

One of these petshops has reserved the whole of Bessy's litter, they had half her first litter too (we kept three of the 7 babies). All babies stayed there to settle for 7 days before they could go to new homes and before three of those 7 days, all were reserved. I got updated each weekend i went down there to check on them as well and they hold details of all new owner. Im planning to see if the shop would be happy to hand out Hamster Leaflets that I will write which will include our details should the worst happen and they cant keep their hamster. (the petshop would take them back and contact us anyway but there you go...).

We wouldnt normally have this many babies but with so many requests, its nice that they are all going to local homes too. We also want some show quality litters (Latte, Ochre, Pistachio and Delilah) are our current 'best' females, so we can have a couple of babies to show in September. I dont feel too comfortable showing hamsters bred by another breeding, feels like cheating lol.

We also want to have some babies for the sales table at London Champs after seeing the shortage at Blenheim/Romsey... least we can guarantee there will be babies if we plan our babies to fit in with shows? I think we might be going to Andover too!
