Do hamsters get lonely? - Page 3

I don't know who to believe anymore. So my hamster shouldn't be 40g as the vet claimed? Right now he's 78g.
I got him some pinecones and put them in the oven for 30 minutes and now the cones are pitch black. I still gave him those and he was chewing on them for awhile.

When I googled about pinecones I got many mixed results. I hope those are safe for hamsters.

His name is Bogie

I've also gotten him a new wheel. I've really gotten lucky with my hamster. He doesn't even wash himself after I touch him, but when somebody else does he immediately takes bath and starts washing himself for a good 30 minutes. I even bought him a slide, but he doesn't use it.

Is it possible to figure out how old he is?

It is lovely to learn his name. I think he looks healthy and not overweight. I know vets like to have a guide but as Ria said, hamsters can be all different weights and be fine. Aww, you both seem to have a wonderful bond.

I bought my hamster wood, different toys, some tubes and a new wheel. He doesn't seem to be that interested. All he's pretty much interested in is food and for whatever reason I haven't seen him on the wheel anymore since I threw the old one away and bought a plastic one. Not sure if he uses it at night.

I’ve heard people sometimes put bedding on the top of the wheel before they go bed and if it’s fallen off by the morning it’s a sign they went in the wheel. He may just be a little nervous if there’s lots of new things and wants time to scent them all. If there’s any food he particularly likes as well you could bury it under the bedding as they like to forage. This make a fun activity with them and allows them to eat their treats too.

What size is the wheel? Lilafernim's idea of putting bedding on the wheel to see if it has been used is great. I just wondered if the wheel was big enough for your hamster to find comfortable.

He uses the same wheel on the playground. I don't know what size is the wheel, but it's not small. There are smaller ones too.
