Default Re: How to get your hamster to help with the housework

Catherine, I saved cardboard boxes up for weeks and weeks, and used those to block off Chewy unfriendly areas of my flat, and he STILL wanted to get in them. He must have had about 20 foot by 15 foot to run around!

But I'd recommend saving bits and bats to block areas off or to make a cardboard playpen, it's a nice bit of a treat and change from time to time

I don't think those leads for hamsters are suitable at all . Lucky very few places sell them, so you don't see tons of children buying them! Much too stressful for the wee chaps. x

Hi Sammy,

That's a great idea - we have loads of empty cardboard boxes as I take a bulky supplement that has to be delivered in them. I will do that and take him out today. Doubtless he will chew through them but, unlike the carpets and floor, they can be easily replaced.

I agree with you about the lead. It seemed to work for a while - but when it came to it there was no way to make it both effective and stress free. I cut it up to make something interesting out of after a few weeks.

Thanks again
