Default My little old man

I wonder if anyone can help please. Marley is about 26 months old. He is struggling to get up his ladders to the shelf’s in his cage, he runs around fine and goes in his wheel but just struggles with the ladders. I am trying to work out what I can put on the ladders to give him a bit more grip, I was thinking about sticking some Velcro on the ladders, do you think that would be okay? Thanks all.

Velcro might catch is claws in it. Have you got something like a bit of rubber matting? If you can add extra depth of bedding it can help make the ladder less sloping and it's easier to climb.
Make sure if water bottle is on the lower level and at a push remove the shelf and ladder so he is in an all one level cage for his retirement!

Question Re: My little old man

Hello, my hamster Milton is a bit older now and has become somewhat wobblt when he walks. I took him to the vet and was advised to give him 3 supplements daily. I noticed he’s been less active and less enthusiatic about walking around since he stumbles on his paper bedding but is more active and less wobbly when I take him out of the cage to walk around. Should I remove most of his bedding to give him more of a flat surface to stumble less when he walks? I tried flattening the bedding a few times but he usually moves it around once in a while. Took his wheel out also for his safety.
