5 month old syrian not staying out much
brioche, my 5 month old syrian female has gotten into a new routine where she's only ever out for around 4 hours. normally between 10:30-1:30 or 11:30-2:30
she's very active during these hours
is this normal? she used to be out for longer but ever since she settled in her new enclosure she's stuck to this routine. she also tries to attack the corners of her enclosure which i have covered with bendy bridges
she is in a large ikea platsa with 1,333sqi floor space
thanks!

Re: 5 month old syrian not staying out much
It sounds like she is a settled hamster now. The thing is with large enclosures and deep bedding you only see a little of what the hamster is doing. It might be very active underground digging around and just not visible. If she seems healthy and is eating and drinking well and doing hamstery things I wouldn't worry though I'd definitely ensure she stays tame and keep getting her out as they can become anti social if you let them and you probably want to interact with your pet. It's also important for health checks.

Re: 5 month old syrian not staying out much
I really would encourage to to try and get her tame enough to handle. There are many methods around but getting her used to being picked up is very important for health reasons. You do need to actively tame her as once in a large enclosure they don't tend to come to you so readily.

Re: 5 month old syrian not staying out much
she does come up to me whenever she sees me i'm just unsure what's the best way to encourage her onto my hand she's walked onto it a few times but only when she climbed up somewhere and got stuck (which no longer happens)
