Re: Raphael (Raffy's) Adventures
I think so - he could tell he was being ignored. Although it was after his brief excursion in the ball that he was happy in the playpen so maybe that had something to do with it as well.

The ball did its job by showing him what could happen to him if he doesn't behave himself in the playpen.

Re: Raphael (Raffy's) Adventures
Weighed Raffy again tonight - he's either 159g or 160g (scales couldn't decide so I'll go with 159g). Only another 2g weight increase but he looks bigger all the time. So a proper fully grown hamster now (in size maybe but not in age or personality - still very spritely and childlike). Although he may still have a bit more growing to do but he's average sized now. Can't believe he was so tiny when he arrived.

You have helped to nourish Raffy. He sounds very happy with you.

Re: Raphael (Raffy's) Adventures
Saw his photo in HOM and he looks very well.
Same weight as Rodney but still haven't managed to weigh Clive. That little monkey will not sit still.
How do you manage to weigh Raffy?

Re: Raphael (Raffy's) Adventures
I have scales like that for the hamsters. Must have another go weighing Clive with cheese. Good idea.
At some point i need to pluck up the courage and weigh dwarf Gertie.....

Re: Raphael (Raffy's) Adventures
I got a rodipet labyrinth house for Raffy which hadn't arrived in time to set his cage up, so it's been sitting in its box until I felt he was ready for the house upgrade. This week-end I unpacked it to plastikote it. I think the quality control has gone for a burton at Rodipet. As with so many manufacturers. There are gaps, a few splintery bits and it really isn't the expected quality. Some of the gaps are where partitions join and could be a hazard even - unlikely so I'm just kind of "filling them in" with the plastikote as a sealer layer. And will need to do a bit of sanding as well on some of the edges. It's good enough to use. But for the price these are - quality control needs to be better. Noticed the design is slightly changed as well - the way the partitions are glued in (also leaves a little gap underneath). Instead of being "fixed" between two walls, they are "slotted" halfway down the wall at each side (the little gap is partway down). That might actually good if they were removable! I occasionally want to remove a partition depending on how the hamster uses the house. But they're not - they're still glued in.
Anyway in between other things I might get round to finishing it off and putting it in in the next couple of weeks!

Rodipets customer service is bad now too. It is such a shame.
