Re: Hello Hammy
Thanks Cloudy, they are an easy toy to make for him. I saw the snuffle mat on Orko’s page, I’m going to give that a try. I’ve just fed Hams and caught him waking up so I quickly grabbed the iPad to see if I could get a clearer photo. Id love to catch him in a full stretch and yawn, they are the best!

Re: Hello Hammy
I haven't heard of snuffle mats until you guys have started using them. It seems like a safer but easier alternative to a forage board

Oh my gosh, Hams is so cute! I hope he likes the snuffle mat. Orko is still ignoring his.

Re: Hello Hammy
With the colder months approaching I decided to do a half cage clean last weekend which went really well. I kept some of the old substrate that was still looking tidy to mix in with the fresh and it was great to sweep up all the sand that he’s kicked out of his sand bath.
Hams was in his playpen not too far from the cage as there was no one else about to watch him in another room and he was really funny, constantly meerkating and peering up to where I was cleaning. He seemed pretty happy when I placed him back home though and kicked around, dug in the deeper substrate.
His nest looks so adorable at the mo, really cosy. I’m thinking of lifting the top section off and replacing the bottom at the end of November as there are just so many poops. It’s a multi layered substrate of poops and food, poops and food, defo needs a tidy before Christmas

Aww, he looks a bit worried in the first photo, bless him. He's so cute.

Re: Hello Hammy
Had to chuckle that it’s taken me so long to figure out the easy way of raising Hams water bottle is simply to concertina some cardboard underneath. It may sound daft but it’s so nice he can just sit at his sitting height to drink from them now rather than always squished down to drink as he did before.

Think he may have been. It’s the first time I’ve removed a substantial amount of bedding all in one go and he could no doubt smell and hear me moving things around. I did read it’s better to move them further away really. I treated him to some tiny bits of grape after.

Oh! Thank you so much for that. Rory's bottle keeps sliding down but i never thought of using cardboard like that. What a great idea. To be copied tomorrow.
