Introducing Moonbeam
Hi all, sorry quite quiet at the moment, but got my hands full!
A few weeks back I took in a foster hamster that was surrendered to me.
I tried to find her a suitable home, but long story she is crazy and I am keeping her! and so I am now building an IKEA Komplement cage for her with the help of a friend. It might take a while, but for the time being she is in a zoozone large cage.
This video explains more...

and here are some pics of her, she spends most of her waking life meerkating or getting into trouble! Her previous owners said she was placid!!! They either lied or she doesn't know the meaning of the word. But I do love the crazy females.

Re: Introducing Moonbeam
Welcome Moonbeam!
I'm glad she's staying, she's so beautiful and looks very much at home with you. She's a very lucky girl.
I've never heard of this Ikea conversion so am looking forward to see it once its finished and set up.

Re: Introducing Moonbeam
Thanks Ria, Yes, it's how I met my friend, she built one, she has a video on Youtube about it. it's very solid and heavy, so maybe not for everyone, but I am hopeful Moonbeam will not be able to destroy it from the inside out Off the top of my head it's approx 100 x 61 cm x 58cm

OMG yes, heavy duty with not the slightest bit of anything she can nibble away at!
it's a bit of a random routine so far, she gets up anytime between 8.30 and 10 ish
likes to come out fro free roam for an hour or two then back to bed, then gets up again in the night.

Thanks, i upgraded it to the bigger dish as she loves her sandbath. They are falcon(?) pie dishes i think, can be expensive, but got mine quite cheap when on offer.

Re: Introducing Moonbeam
She is beautiful . Love her markings. And great to have a hamster who meerkats! Is this more a female thing? None of our boys have done it much. I also don’t know the komplement cage. Do you have a photo?
Would also be interested to know how the Rodipet house works out. I haven’t used that 3 room one before. I did have the long 2 and a half room one but that was quite a bit lower.
