Wheels
i’m not even sure if anyone can answer this one but i got my hamster a new wheel a while ago now (it’s the 28cm trixie wheel) and she always runs on it fine and no problem but she loves to just bite the outside of it. i can’t figure out why.. she has food and lots of different toys to chew on around her cage. if anyone knows why she might be doing this please help 😂 she doesn’t chew the bars of her cage or anything, just the wheel. she didn’t do it when she first got this wheel it’s more of a recent thing.

Re: Wheels
i have a similar problem with one of my syrians chewing on her wheel stand, unfortunately i found there's not a whole lot you can do to stop it, but a good way to encourage your hamster to chew on her chew toys is to spread a very thin layer of peanut butter on them, i find it works very well

Re: Wheels
Does she have a Whimzee chew?
You could try washing the wheel, maybe it's a scent that's attracting her.

Re: Wheels
Don’t put peanut butter on! Bad for hamsters. Some just do chew things. Ria suggested washing it - try wiping it with dilute white vinegar. Is it the plastic or the wood one?
