Default Treats for taming

We’re at the stage of taming where I’m able to lead my little man out of his hidey-hole with a treat. I’ve seen videos of people training rats by putting a blob of yoghurt (I think) on their finger which the rat can lick off as a reward. I believe dairy is a no-no for hammies so I’m wondering if there’s a good alternative to the seeds I’m luring him with - something he can lick off my finger without filling his belly (or his cheeks)?

You could put some brown linseeds on your palm for your hamster to lick off or a little porridge on your fingers.

A bit of baby food like peas or a bit of mashed banana may also tempt him.

Ah, thanks Ria. I’ll add one or two of those to my weekly shop!

I used chicken and boiled egg but make sure what ever taming treat you use dont give it to her any other other time, she only gets that particular yummy thing when shes with you!
