Water + Food Changes
hi,
i’m just wondering when i should change my hamsters water? i’ve had her for almost a week and i change food and water when she’s sleeping so when she wakes up it’s all ready for her. should i be changing it when she’s awake?

It makes no difference as long as the hamster is fine with your hands in her cage.
One of my dwarfs is very territorial so i change her water when she's asleep otherwise she'll dangle off my sleeve but the rest of the hamsters don't care when i change it.

Re: Water + Food Changes
Depends on what water you give them. All my animals including Bella get bottled spring water! Its alot better for all animals, no chemicals etc! I swear by it and is probably the main reason all my hamsters have lived past 4yrs old, my 2 rats are now 6yrs old and my dog is 19yrs old! Although im also particular regarding there diets and the huge variety they get but its spring water that keeps them all tip top!
With bottled water i change Bella's water every 5 days but if you use tap water i advise you change it everyday as within 24hrs it goes stayle. If you now get a glass of water, taste it then leave it on the side till the same time the following day, you will taste the difference and so will they.
